There’s a new program that recognizes and promotes the generous support of United Way among women who belong to the Tocqueville Society.
The Tocqueville Women’s Initiative aims to develop connections between its members and provide them with opportunities for education, input and engagement in local community issues, especially those addressed by United Way’s local community impact mission. The group’s objectives are to: New Tocqueville members attended an introductory coffee on May 1, 2009, to learn about local efforts in early childhood education. Jessie Rassmussen, vice president of the Buffett Early Childhood Fund led a discussion on the things families, child care professionals and community groups can do to make sure youngsters are ready-to-learn when they begin kindergarten. There will be another event this fall. Members of the United Way Tocqueville Society contribute $10,000 or more to the annual campaign.
