The big annual meeting and awards luncheon for United Way of the Midlands approaches  -- set for Thursday, March 31, 2011.


Several local honors and one national award will be given to individuals and organizations that make a positive and measurable impact on our community throughout the year.

Mutual of Omaha CEO Dan Neary will be recognized as United Way’s "Citizen of the Year."

Terry Moore, president of the Omaha Federation of Labor/AFL-CIO, will receive United Way Worldwide’s Joseph A. Beirne Labor Community Services Award.

The local United Way’s annual Community Service Award will be given to UPS. Two organizations will receive Chair’s Partnership Awards for their work with UWM on special projects. This year’s recipients will be American Red Cross-Heartland Chapter and Metropolitan Community College.

The final stages of the Fall 2010 United Way fundraising drive have now been completed; the final total donated by local individuals and organizations will be announced on March 31. The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the CoCo Key Convention Center, 72nd & Grover Street in Omaha. Many thanks to UPS for its sponsorship of the 2011 Annual Meeting.

 

United Way of the Midlands, its donors and volunteers advance the common good of the Omaha metropolitan area by providing our neighbors life-changing opportunities in education, financial stability and health. UWM celebrates 88 years of service in 2011.
