Our Impact Initiative Partners

 

United Way works with many partners on the community impact initiatives. Some are our tradtional nonprofit partner agencies. But there are other nonprofits, private businesses and government agencies that work with us to build these strong initiatives.  Take a look!

DIAL 2-1-1
The Nebraska 2-1-1 coalition includes the State of Nebraska, the Nebraska Public Service Commission, Nebraska's United Way organizations, University of Nebraska's Public Policy Center, regional and county health departments, and others.  It's a great team that's getting callers connected with services across the state.  United Way of the Midlands also works with United Ways in Iowa, and the national Alliance of Information and Referrals Services (AIRS).


FINANCIAL STABILITY PARTNERSHIP™
United Way and UNO's College of Public Affairs and Community Service, along with: AARP, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Creighton University Abrahams Legal Clinic, Family Housing Advisory Services, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City-Omaha Branch, GOCA, Hope Medical Outreach, Internal Revenue Service, NE Dept. of Health & Human Services, City of Omaha - Mayor's Office, Omaha Housing Authority, UNO College of Public Affairs & Community Service, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), Girls Inc., St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey High School,  eleven area banks and credit unions (American National, Bank of the West, Centris Credit Union, First National, First State, Great Western, Mutual First Credit Union, Pinnacle, Security National, US Bank and Wells Fargo) and Waddell and Reed. 

Partners in the Single-Parent Families' Financial Education Training: Camp Fire USA Midlands Council, YWCA Omaha, Together Inc of Metropolitan Omaha and the West Central Community Action (WCCA) in Southwest Iowa, with support from FINRA's (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) Investor Education Foundation.


INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF THE HEARTLAND
Nearly three dozen organizations are on the International Center team. Partners include: Lutheran Family Services (lead agency), Catholic Charities, OneWorld Community Health Center, Legal Aid of Nebraska, AIM Institute, Douglas County Health Department, Metropolitan Community College, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska, YMCA, and YWCA Omaha.


EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION - SCHOOL READINESS
Our statewide partners are the Buffett Foundation, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, seven other Nebraska United Ways, Central District Health Dept. Childcare Solutions, and Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. Local partners include Heartland Family Service, YMCA of Greater Omaha, Child Saving Institute, Early Childhood Training Center, Educare Center of Omaha, Head Start, Midwest Child Care Association, and University of Nebraska Medical Center.


ENGAGING AT-RISK YOUTH IN COMMUNITY SERVICE
This summer volunteer program includes a variety of nonprofit groups, including the American Red Cross-Heartland Chapter, Heartland Family Service, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands, Lauritzen Gardens, Rose Blumkin Home, Golden Hills Center, the Henry Doorly Zoo, and Simmonds Restaurant Management


OLDER ADULTS INITIATIVE
Partners include Partnerships in Aging, Alegent, American Red Cross Heartland and Loess Hills Chapters, Council Bluffs Senior Center, Creighton University, Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging, Our Healthy Community Partnership, Safety & Health Council of Greater Omaha, The Salvation Army, Southwest 8 Senior Services, University of Nebraska Medical Center, University of Nebraska-Omaha, Visiting Nurse Association/Omaha & Council Bluffs-Pottawattamie County.
