If needed following a disaster, these citizen responders use their training as part of a neighborhood or workplace team to help others when professional responders are overwhelmed or not immediately available.

What is taught?
1. Disaster Preparedness
2. Disaster Fire Suppression
3. Disaster Medical Operations
4. Light Search and Rescue Operations
5. Team Organization
6. Personal Readiness and Equipment
7. Terrorism Recognition Class Date:

If you would like to volunteer, contact the Medical Reserve Corps, Jamie Moore, 522-7930, fax 522-7991, or jmoore@uwmidlands.org. Applications are also available at all Hy-Vee Stores and Great Western Banks.

The skills of health professionals help our communities every day, but you can serve in a very special capacity in times of public health emergency or crisis.

***It's important to sign up now, so you can be pre-registered, badged and trained on local emergency/disaster procedures. When a crisis occurs, you'll know when and where you are needed. You will have the satisfaction of providing an important preparedness function for our community.

Working together, we will strengthen our community and in turn, our nation.
