JANIS BERRY Janis Berry will tell you right away she is blessed, and for all that’s been given to her she is eager to give back to those less fortunate. She worked with the United Way funded programs for many years, thankful for the work they did to help youth and adults in the community realize their dream of becoming successful citizens.
Edna Brooks has helped with the United Way Campaigns for seven years. She is a native of Omaha and grew up in North Omaha. She retired from Government Service in 2006 after working for the University of Nebraska and the Cities of Janesville, Wisconsin and Toppenish, Washington for over 40 years. Most recently she worked as the Executive Director of a transitional living program for women and children in Omaha. Edna enjoys sharing her personal and professional experience working with people who have benefitted from the programs offered by the United Way partner agencies and funded with United Way dollars and enjoys telling stories about people who have used the help they received to better the life for them and their children.
GIZA CHANDLER Giza Chandler, (Liza with a G, she says), heard about being a LE from family, and family is what had her interested in working for the United Way. She has seen how the UW helped her loved ones and hopes to give back as an LE. Being retired, she enjoys the freedom to spend time with her family.
DANIELLE CHEATOM Danielle Cheatom has always wanted to be a part of building a stronger and better community. She has worked with a variety of United Way programs as an employee and volunteer. After she completed her Bachelor’s at UNO in Nonprofit Administration in 2009 she decided becoming a United Way of the Midlands Loaned Executive would introduce her formally to the partner agencies and supportive companies making an impact in the lives of her local community. She continued her involvement with the United Way as a member of the 2010 Heartland Blueprint Project board member training. After a 1 year hiatus for the warmer climate of Atlanta, GA, Danielle has returned for her second campaign season. She looks forward to reaching the $21.7m goal this year.
SHARON DAVIS Sharon Davis has 20 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, and serving as a liason for the University and funding organizations such as the federal government, state government, and foundations. She enjoys a great life—family, friends, career, hobbies—life is good, she says.
JILLIAN FISHER Jillian Fisher recently graduated from UNO with a degree in Public relations/Advertising. She is excited to be involved in the campaign and reaching our goal of 21.7 million! Jillian is familiar with the United Way but through the LE program has been able to attain a better concept of what the United Way does and how many peoples lives they touch. She looks forward to advocating for the United Way after the LE program is over.
ROSE HILBURN
JIMMY HUERTER Jimmy Huerter just graduated from Saint Louis University with a degree in Finance. He has always known about the United Way and working as an LE is a great opportunity to learn and understand the needs of the Omaha community.
KATHY OCASIO Kathy Ocasio has more than 10 years experience as a campaign manager with a local employer. She looks forward to working with other employers to coordinate successful fundraising campaigns.
PAM PENKE Pam Penke has been a community volunteer for 16 years giving at least 100 hours a year to a non-profit group she belongs to. This is her 6th year working the United Way campaign.
REBECCA PFENNING Rebecca has been accepted to Graduate School for a Masters in Library and Information Science. She is excited to be working for United Way and with all of the great non profits and programs United Way supports. Rebecca looks forward to a future career in the non profit and Library Science field through literacy advocacy.
CRAIG STRONG Craig Strong is excited to use his time as an LE to give back to the community. He is glad to have a better understanding of all the United Way has to offer and enjoys all the fun he’s having. He’s creative as well as generous, being involved in a drama team and photographing the natural beauty of the midlands.
