Pay Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
 
The United Way of the Midlands' Volunteer Resource Center invites area youngsters to pay tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. by writing an essay describing your dream and vision for your community.
 
Eligibility:  All entries must be 500 words or less.  Youth must reside in Douglas or Sarpy County in Nebraska or Mills or Pottawattamie County in Iowa and be enrolled in elementary, middle or high school; home-schooled students are eligible. 
 
Selection Process:  The Youth Volunteer Services Committee will choose two finalists in each grade category. Decision of the Youth Volunteer Services Committee is final. All submissions become property of the United Way of the Midlands' Volunteer Resource Department.
 
Awards: There will be a $75.00, $50.00 and $25.00 award in each grade category.  Each applicant will receive a certificate of participation.
 
Winners will be announced at an event on MLK Jr Day: January 16, 2012. All participants are invited to attend.
