Latino Center of the Midlands -- Jose was on track for suspension due to his tardiness and long list of absences. He was referred to the Latino Center of the Midlands where the staff helped him identify what was holding him back. For Jose, going to school didn’t make sense when he didn’t even know where he was going in life. Jose disclosed he was feeling no one could help him map out his future, and his parents certainly could not be able to help because they had no formal education. He received assistance from the education staff here and learned about higher education options. Jose has now applied for college, completed numerous scholarship applications, and has taken the ACT. It may have seemed foggy at first to Jose, but thanks to the Latino Center of the Midlands and the support of the United Way, he can see his future and it’s full of options.
