Heartland Blueprint Training

United Way's "Heartland Blueprint" training helps prepare people to serve effectively in these volunteer positions.

In 1988, United Way of America determined the inclusiveness of ethnic minority leaders and policy makers to be essential to the operations of United Way and other not-for-profit agencies.

Purpose
Heartland Blueprint is a volunteer leadership development program which seeks to increase minority participation on not-for-profit boards and/or committees. Heartland Blueprint's focus is to strengthen the boards of not-for-profits within the United Way of the Midlands' service area through a greater involvement of African American, Native American, Hispanic/Latino and Asian/Pacific Islanders. The program is administered by the United Way of the Midlands Volunteer Resource Center. Nearly 350 people have graduated from the program in the past 17 years.

Blueprint is a series of workshops over a three-month period that starts in February of each year and concludes with a graduation in May.

Applications will be accepted through December 31st for next year's class.
