United Way of the Midlands has embarked on a Strategic Planning process which is intended to better address our community's human needs, and help us discover how we can provide the best possible service to the Omaha metro area into the future.

In undertaking this project, United Way of the Midlands seeks to:

  • Understand the environment/situation and identify opportunities and challenges
  • Assess the current strategic direction and organizational strengths
  • Frame strategic decisions, assess options and develop preliminary recommendations

As we continue to assess the needs in our community, United Way of the Midlands will focus on:

  • Data collection through personal interviews and community data
  • Engagement in the community
  • Identification of best practices

Questions to be answered in the Strategic Planning Process:

  • What are the key needs in our community?
  • What needs can we best address and how?
  • How can we increase impact and improve our work with the agencies?
  • How can we better understand and serve our loyal donor base, and develop the next generation of leaders and donors?

UWM Strategic Planning Process will be:

  • Thorough in pursuit of greater positive impact on our community
  • Inclusive of diverse stakeholders
  • Transparent and robust in communications
  • Dedicated to a clear vision, stated values and a forward-looking strategy

This process would not be possible without the assistance of more than 20 community volunteers who are working together to guide United Way towards a successful future:
